New Years Eve

What a year 2015 turned out to be?

2015 has proved to be an extra special year in a number of ways.

There were a few firsts along the way for the Bowens.

You know you are getting old when the f#@!ing optometrist tells you it is time to wear glasses. “No way!” I said, but there was no denying the skewed results, so I got to pick some sexy expensive “old fogey frames” to compliment the even more expensive lenses. (yes, had to remortgage the house).

I still can’t believe I needed glasses, as my eyesight is great (denial). To be frank I have only worn them on airplanes, because let’s face it, those crappy TV screens are tiny. Lots more after the break.

Goodbye 2014.

One way to judge a year, is to look back at all the photos one has taken during that year. Our 2014 album is full of wonderful locations and stories, which is surprising as it has been one of the busiest years ever.

The year kicked off with me saying farewell to CMA/S&P Capital IQ and the CDS markets. After 7 years I had achieved all I could and needed a new challenge. Fortunately I didn’t have to go far, as in the same building and also part of McGraw Hill Financials was Platts.

With the new role came a lot of new challenges as well as some travel, and my first business trips to Singapore, Houston and Atlanta. The first trip was for two weeks in Singapore, where my new colleagues filled my brain with commodities and oil knowledge and filled my stomach with good local food. 😉

Next up was a week in Houston to meet the team and to see how they worked in relation to Singapore and London. Our team interacts with a lot of people at Platts and I had to get to know how they worked. Of course there was a lot of eating as well. I could see a lot of similarities between Singapore and the Houston office. 🙂

Looking back at 2011.

It is that time of the year again when one looks back and reflects on the year that was 2011. I have not blogged as much as I would have liked too, because I have been busy with two new websites mynokian900.com & mysgs2.com, not to mention helping the folks with their website wilkinsonsworld.com. That is not to say the Bowens didn’t get up to mischief this year, far from it and so in one last post for the year I hope to highlight a few memorable occasions.

Goodbye 2005!

So the last day of 2005 is here. Where did this year go? It feels like yesterday it was the 1st of January and now it’s almost tomorrow. Does that make sense? It sounded right when I wrote it. 😉

So this will be my last post for the year and to mark the day I have decided to change my theme “again“… The beauty of wordpress I guess. (but it’s only a slight change, and I doubt it will be noticed).

I also upgraded my wordpress to version 2.0 – It’s pretty cool, once you are logged into the admin section. There are some nice touches in the post/page editor and a new look theme viewer and a couple of cool plugins that are now built-in. Definitely worth the upgrade if you are still on version 1.5.x.

Happy New Year 2006

And that is about all I have for now. Have yourself a fantastic new years eve.
