It wasn’t easy though getting tickets to see in my opinion one of the greatest bands around. The first concert sold out in 4 minutes on Ticketmaster.co.uk according to the papers, but minutes later they were selling on other ticket sites for 4 times the price. Ridiculous really when one considers how much U2 will be making from this historic tour. Read about it here: Forbes
Remember that video of a drone called Lily, which wooed the world with its amazing, almost too good to be true features such as being water proof, being able to follow one around, flight times of 20 minutes, take off and land from a hand etc. Well, the company just announced its quitting as it’s run out of money.
Not only that, it turns out the video above was mostly shot and filmed using a DJI Inspire drone and some GoPro cameras. What a con?
There were thousands of pre-orders and people handed over millions of dollars to the company in the hope to get one of these incredible drones, which just goes to show that pre-order purchasing (handing over your money with no guarantee of getting your purchase delivered) is as risky as these crowdfunding projects on Indigogo and Kickstarter.
Many a company has promised the world and then crashed and burned with folks hard earned money. Shame on them!
In my last blog of 2015 I mentioned what a special year it had been for us, but honestly 2016 has topped it in so many ways.
It was the year Bowen travelled the most miles and visited even more exciting, exotic destinations than ever before. There were again a few firsts (first time to Zel am See, Mexico City, the island of Bali and Kraków). British Airways was the carrier of choice and they lived up to their great customer service by upgrading us twice for free.
On the BA website they have this cool little chart showing some cool statistics.
The year of travel started in late March with a week long trip to a small Austrian town called Zel Am See. This was our first ski trip to Austria and it was awesome! The weather was perfect most days, the scenery was outstanding.
A week or two later we were jetting off to Mexico City for the wedding extravaganza of the year. Our friends Rodney and Sofia were getting married, but this was no ordinary wedding.
This post is about my experience of setting up the D-Link DCS 5222L Network Surveillance camera to the Samsung SmartThings hub. There is a note on the SmartThings app that says:
This device has not been officially tested and certified to “Work with SmartThings”. You can connect it to your SmartThings home but performance may vary and we will not be able to provide support or assistance.
In fact this is a bit misleading because the D-Link DCS 5222L camera is not picked automatically if the latest firmware “DCS-5222L_B1_FW_V2.14.04” is installed on the camera. I know this because I have two of these cameras on my home network and one was on V2.13 while the other was on V2.14.
It means a great deal to me for multiple reasons (1st world, diversity, great services, central travel hub, weather, good beer etc.), but in this post I will give ONE excellent reason.
I lost my wallet on Tuesday evening at Lewisham station. It contained my drivers license, bank cards, credit cards, ID cards, some cash and some work receipts etc.
Annoying to have lost it = YES, but I realized the loss quickly and called my banks to let them know, called the train station to report a lost wallet and logged into the DVLA website and purchased a replacement drivers licence. Basically by the time I went to bed, I had peace of mind that everything would be okay.
On Thursday morning I received in the post all my new bank cards and credit cards. It took less than two days for my bank to resolve my problem. That is excellent service in my eyes.
On Friday I got a call from British Rail. My wallet had been found and I could collect it.
Today (Saturday) my new drivers license has arrived.
That is less than 4 days to have my life back to normal again. Talk about efficiency! The UK is efficient.
Wow what a race? Nico Rosberg is a world champion. It has taken him a few years, and he has raced against the best in the world, but this year he proved he was more hungry for the title. All those emotions coming out on the podium and in the many interviews. It is so good to have a new humble, gracious champion.
Unlike his team mate, who has shown on a number of occasions and today that he is a spoilt, petulant, bad sportsman, who only thinks of himself and not his team. This years biggest loser. (Nice one Lewis) NOT!
“I am losing the world championship so right now I don’t really care whether I win or lose this race.”
“Lewis, this is Paddy. We need you to pick up the pace to win this race”
“I’m in the lead right now. I’m quite comfortable where I am”
Lewis needs to listen to Paddy his done all he can don’t spoil your great future
No we are not been suckered into getting the PlayStation 4 Pro before Christmas. We are not stupid. January Sales will be the time.
It is crazy to think we have had our PlayStation 3 console since June 2008. It still works be it very loudly, but is lacking somewhat in the graphics department. I’ve replaced the hard drive a few times to something larger, as 20GB or even 40GB is not enough these days.
I have priced the PS4 Pro console and controller and a few games we would like to get on Amazon. Hoping it goes down by next year when we revisit the online store.
Guitar Hero Live looks amazing. We are big fans of the franchise having played all the previous versions.
I don’t currently wear a watch because I have my phone or computer to see the time, but looking at the features of the Samsung Gear S3 smart watch makes me think 2017 could be the year I start wearing one.
Samsung have come along way since their first smart watch.
I have & use both Android Pay and Samsung Pay on my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, both are super convenient for shopping without the need for me to pull out my wallet, and the Gear S3 supports Samsung Pay…sweet!
It’s very hard to not like all the features of the Samsung Gear S3. Time will tell if I get one.
