Houston Trip December 2015

My work trip to Houston turned out to be a very productive week. It is always fun going to Houston as my colleagues at Platts like to spoil me rotten, and this time was no exception. There was no rest for the wicked and I was out every night with them.

Highlights of my trip; the English pub in Jon’s neighborhood , electronic darts evening with Ariana, Julie and Chris, the editorial drinks evening, the lunch at Killen’s Barbeque with Marc, Gauri and the team and finally the golf evening under the lights with Mike. (That was competitive).

I stayed at the Hilton Americas this time around. Great vibe, friendly staff, nice and big and open. There is a Starbucks right in the front. There is also a shuttle, which I didn’t bother using. It was a lovely hotel. The breakfast was great, although not sure about the price ($24). It seemed a little steep. Great choice of breakfast and they had my favorite cereal (fruit loops). The walk to Platts took about ten minutes and fortunately it was lovely clear skies and not to chilly.

Getting around Houston I used Uber for every trip, and this time it was brilliant. It was also very cheap.

It was also the week I purchased my Surface Pro 4 from the Microsoft store in Galleria.

Finally on my way home I was given a free upgrade to Business class. It was a very welcomed and timely gift from British Airways.
